BODENSTEINER RITES FRIDAY AT ST. LUCAS

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Bodensteiner, 43, St. Lucas, were held Friday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Church, St Lucas. Celebrating the requiem mass was Msgr. Francis Schuh, pastor. Interment was in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Bodensteiner died at 8:22 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester. She had been a patient at the hospital at Decorah since the afternoon of Sept. 4 and was transferred to Rochester on Sunday morning. She gave birth to a daughter, Karla Ann, Saturday. The baby died that evening.

Sylvia Elizabeth Bodensteiner, daughter of Joseph and Anna Schmitt Holthaus, was born Feb.8, 1920, in Winneshiek county. She attended school at Festina.

On Sept. 27, 1938, she was married to Albert H. Bodensteiner at Festina. The couple farmed near St. Lucas.

Mrs. Bodenteiner was a member of the St. Luke's church.

Surviving are her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Holthaus, Calmar; four sons: Ronald, West Union; Leon,, with the White House Communications Agency of the Army of Washington, D.C.; Duane, stationed with the 12th US ASA Field Station of the Army in Japan, and who was here to attend the funeral, an Niel, at home; three daughters: Jeanette, Donna, and Wanda; one grandchild and 10 brothers and sisters. Walter Holthaus, at home; Mrs. Joe (Hedwig) Tieskotter and Cyril Holthaus, Ossian; Nilus Holthaus, Decorah; Mrs. Joe (Oda) Lansing and Mrs. Donald (Alice) Schiedel, Festina, and Robert Holthaus, Mrs. Lawrence (Esther) Timp, Rufus Holthaus and Mrs. John D. (Delores) Meyer, all of Calmar.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Karla Ann and Mary, both in infancy.
