Rites conducted for Johanna Bodensteiner.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna Bodensteiner, St Lucas, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28 at St. Luke's Catholic church, St. Lucas, with Father Florian Schmidt officiating and Father Peter Bodensteiner, Father Vincent Simon and Msgr. Leander Riecks as co-celebrants. Casket bearers were grandsons, Ken Mihm, Jim Holthaus, Rick Nienhaus, Rick Bodensteiner, Neil Bodensteiner, Don Bodensteiner. Mass servers were Greg and Glen Schmitt and Dean Bodensteiner. Lector was John Holthaus.

Mrs. Johanna Margaret Bodensteiner, 94, died Monday evening, Feb. 24, at Good Samaritan Home in West Union after being confined there some nine months.

She was born April 15, 1891, near Fort Atkinson. She attended Fort Atkinson schools and was married on June 24, 1912, by Father Greg Dragoon at St. John's Catholic church. Fort Atkinson, to Carl J. Bodensteiner. They farmed in the St. Lucas area until their retirement in 1950.

She is survived by five sons, Albert, West Union; Ray, Waucoma; Irvin, St. Lucas; Richard, Osage, and Leo, West Union; four daughters, Mrs. Linus (Frieda) Mihm, St. Lucas; Mrs. Florian (Helen) Nienhaus, Ossian; Mrs. Nilas (Irene) Holthaus, Decorah, and Mrs. John (Irma) Schuler, Austin, TX; 66 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, two daughters, Mrs. Alma Koch and Doris in infancy; three brothers, Andrew, Hugo, Otto Rausch; six sisters. Mrs. Theresa Hauer, Mrs. Otillia Kruse, Mrs. Frances Meyer, Mrs. Barbara Balk, Mrs. Clara Hackman and Mrs. Rose Bodensteiner.

Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 27 at St. Luke's Chapel with Larkin-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A Rosary Society rosary was held at 4 p.m., Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 5 p.m., Paris scripture at 8 p.m. and a combined rosary of the New Hampton and West Union councils of Knights of Columbus at 8:so p.m. on Thursday.
