Malcolm David Guyer Passes Away

Funeral services for Malcolm David Guyer, 86, were held at the Tuecke-Allenstein Funeral Home in Garnavillo on Thurs., June 15, 1972 at 10 a.m.

Malcolm David Guyer was born March 30, 1886, at Clermont to Jesse and Caroline Thompson Guyer. He was married to Mae Estella Fritz on Feb. 5, 1913 at Elgin. To this union two children, Lawrence and Eleanor, were born. Mrs. Guyer preceded him in death in 1926. He was married to Alice Osborne in 1940. To this union, one son, Thomas, was born.

He was a farmer in the Elkader area until 1936 when he retired from farming. He sold feed in the Garnavillo area for several years. He operated an apartment house in Waterloo until 1969 when ill health forced him to retire. He spent the last three years of his life at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville where he died on June 12 at 11:00 a.m.

His survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Eleanor) Scheffert, Monona; and two sons Lawrence Guyer, Garnavillo and Thomas Guyer, Waterloo; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Guyer was the last surviving member of the Jesse Guyer family. Burial was in the Illyria Cemetery, Elgin.

Four grandsons, Lanny Scheffert, Jerry Scheffert, Roger Guyer and Lynn Guyer served as casketbearers.
