Lyle Arnold Guyer

Funeral services for Lyle Guyer were held Saturday, September 16, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. in the West Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Charles Wagner was the soloist and Pat Butikofer was the organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of the arrangements. Interment was in God's Acre Cemetery at Clermont.

Lyle Arnold Guyer, son of Ethan and Emma (Nelson) Guyer, was born October 18, 1917 in Fayette County. He died Thursday morning, September 14, 1989 in Palmer Lutheran Health Center at West Union, Iowa.

He attended the Clermont Public School. On December 27, 1942 he was married to Gladys Thompson at Clermont, Iowa. They had 4 children. They farmed in the Clermont area all of their lives except 2 years when they lived in Winneshiek County.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who passed away May 24, 1989, one infant son, six brothers, Harvey, Aubrey, Victor, Jesse, Russel and Lawrence.

He is survived by one son, Ronald and his wife Mary, of Elgin, two daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Bud Holtey, of Decorah, and Marie and her husband Michael Bollman of West Union, three grandchildren, Timothy Guyer, Chad Holtey, and John Bollman, and one sister, Mrs. Richard (Rose) Olson of Clermont.

Lyle was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

Casket bearers were Douglas Guyer, Gaylord Guyer, Jim Anderson, Elliott Olson, Arnold Guyer and Carl Steinlage.
