Gladys Guyer

Funeral services for Gladys Guyer were held Friday, May 26, 1989 at 1:30 p.m. at the West Clermont Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements. Burial was in God's Acre Cemetery in Clermont.

Gladys Fern Guyer, daughter of Albert and Helen (Bergan) Thompson, was born November 17, 1921 at Clermont. She died Wednesday, May 24, 1989 in Community Memorial Hospital at Postville.

She attended the Clermont Public School. On December 27, 1942 she was married to Lyle A. Guyer at Clermont. They were parents of four children. They farmed in the Clermont area all of their life except for two years when they lived in Winneshiek County. Gladys had been employed at the Iowa Turkey Products Plant in Postville for seven years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, four brothers, Otto, Elmer, Jr., Floyd and Joseph and a sister, Marian.

Surviving are her husband, Lyle, one son, Ronald and his wife, Mary, of Elgin, two daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Bud Holtey of Decorah and Marie and her husband Michael Bollman of West Union, three grandchildren, Timothy Guyer, Chad Holtey, and John Bollman, two brothers, Tilmer Thompson and Arthur Thompson, both of West Union, three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Deloris) Kamaus of West Union, Mrs. Henry (Viola) Mueller of St. Olaf and Mrs. Clarence (Lillian) Thorson of Clermont and a half-sister, Ellen Hagelie (Mrs. Clarence) of Ossian.

Gladys was a member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church.

Casket bearers were Robert Thompson, Ronald Thompson, Jerry Thorson, Douglas Guyer, Gaylord Guyer and Arnold Guyer.
