Mabel Pernilla Amundson

Mabel Amundson, daughter of Nels and Julia (Gilbertson) Helgerson, was born January 25, 1900 in Clayton county, near Clermont, Iowa. She died May 23, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin Amundson were held Tuesday, May 28, 1991 in the East Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont. The Rev. Kim Thacker officiated. Arthur and Clarence Amundson provided special music, accompanied by Steven Lentzkow, organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Mark Amundson, Larry Amundson, Jeremy Pampuch, Bret Amundson, John Amundson, and David Meyer.

She was baptized and confirmed in the East Clermont Lutheran Church of which she was a lifetime member. She attended the rural school near her home.

On June 26, 1918 she married Martin Amundson at the home of her parents. They had six children. They farmed in Grand Meadow Township until 1958 when they moved to Clermont, where Martin worked as a carpenter.

She is preceded in death by her husband in 1989; her parents; a son, Norman; a brother, Harry Helgerson; a sister, Palma Walls and six half brothers: Tollef, Ole, Ansten, Melvin, Louie and Ingvald Helgerson.

She is survived by four sons, Joseph and Wayne and his wife, Clara, all of Postville; Roger and wife, Lois, Clermont; Victor and wife, Karen, Iowa Falls; a daughter, Arlene Bochoven of Prairie du Chien, WI; a daughter-in-law, Loretta Amundson, Elgin, IA; 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
