Mary Ann Gehring was born in Canada, January 11, 1863, and died Tuesday, November 17, 1908. She was about 45 years of age at the time of her death. In the year 1869 she came with her parents to Iowa and they settled in Fayette County, which has been her home since. May 17, 1891, she was united in marriage to Frank G. Gehring and two children, Alma and Willie, have come to bless this union. Mrs. Gehring was a long and patient sufferer and for the past eight weeks had been confined to her bed. Heart trouble was the immediate cause of death and although all that medical skill and tender nursing could accomplish was done, she steadily grew weaker until the end came. The funeral services were held at the Illyria church Thursday of last week and a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends gathered to pay their last sad respects to a loved neighbor and friend.

Mrs. Gehring was an upright Christian woman, a true and loving wife and indulgent mother and a thoughtful neighbor. Besides her husband and two children, the father and mother, one sister and five brothers, besides relatives and friends, are left to mourn the loss of this noble woman.
