Rites are held for Mrs. Clark

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bridget's Catholic Church for Mrs. W. J. Clark with Rev. F. J. Vallaster singing the requiem high mass. Burial was made in the family plot in the Catholic cemetery at Clermont.

Anna Fitzgerald was born March 2, 1867 at Clermont, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Fitzgerald, and passed away at Postville Hospital, January 27, 1950.

She received her education in the Clermont public school and for a number of years taught school in Fayette and Clayton counties. On April 4, 1893 she was united in marriage to W. J. Clark of Grand Meadow township, at St. Peter's Church in Clermont, Rev. Coyle officiating. They lived on the bridegroom's farm until 1908.

On April 4, 1943, they observed their golden wedding anniversary. Two years later February 27, 1945, Mr. Clark passed away.

She is survived by her three children Mrs. (Ethel) Henry Steele of Postville, Mrs. (Irene) R. E. Bernhardt of Everly and Dr. Thomas D. Clark of Victor. One daughter Mabel died in infancy. Also surviving are four grandchildren Marjorie Ann Clark Harris of Des Moines, Thomas B. Clark, U. S. Navy, San Francisco, Mary Sue Clark Victor, and Robert William Bernhardt of Everly.

Her sister Ella Fitzgerald passed away five years ago at Decorah Hospital leaving Mrs. Clark the last member of a pioneer family.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. T. D. Clark and Mary Sue of Victor, Mrs. R. E. Bernhardt of Everly, Miss Anna Humphrey, Mrs. James Carroll and Thomas Kreppene of Monona
