Elgin Echo, Thur., 9 May 1918.

Leonard Durscher, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Durscher, was born August 15, 1896, and died on May 4, 1918, at the age of twenty-one years, eight months and nineteen days.

He was at home working on the farm and he was a great help there. Some months ago he took sick and the best of care was given to him, still on May 4th he passed away - God in his wise providence has taken him away from his family circle and they all submit to God's will. We can not always explain God's ways but we know he knows best. The family will miss him but hope to meet him in the better world.

Leonard was a young man with fine traits of character, and was one who was beloved and well thought of by a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held from the Baptist church Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wedel, and interment was made in Elgin cemetery.
