Elgin Echo, Thur., 2 May 1918.

Word of the death of Mrs. Elvira Connor came as a surprise to our people Wednesday morning, when it was learned with sorrow that she had died suddenly early that morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Wilson, with whom she was making her home at the time of her death. She had been a great sufferer for the last sixteen years, but of late it was thought that she was enjoying more than her usual health. Death came quickly as in a few minutes after she was stricken she had breathed her last.

Mrs. Connor was a good woman and a kind neighbor and was always ready and anxious to extend a helping hand to the needy and those who were in sorrow or distress. Her death causes a feeling of sorrow in many homes where she was known and loved.

Elvira Pinney was born in Hopkinton county, New York, March 1, 1858, and died April 29, 1918. She came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eber Pinney, to Elgin in 1872 and in the year 1875 was united in marriage to Abijah Connor. To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy and Bertha, the elder daughter, passed away in 1911. The husband and father died June 7, 1900.

Deceased is survived by four children, Mrs. Donald Doan of Hoopston, Ill.; Hugh Connor of Rochester, Minn.; Oscar Connor and Mrs. Robt. Wilson of Elgin; also two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. M. W. DeSart of West Union; Mrs. James Riles of Muscatine and Robert and Elmer Pinney of Elgin, together with eight grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Illyria church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and interment will be made in the cemetery there.
