Mrs. Fred Schlupp, who died at her home in this city Monday night, Sept. 3, 1917, was a native of Switzerland, and was 72 years of age at the time of her death. Her maiden name was Rosa Ralhenhueler and she came to this country with her mother and brother in April, 1867, locating in Clayton county. In October 1873 she was united in marriage to Fred Schlupp and for a time they engaged in farming and then came to Elgin, where her husband opened a store. The family has made this town their home ever since. Mrs. Schlupp was of a quiet, retiring disposition , a woman who loved her husband, her home and the beautiful flowers which she always had about the place. For some time past she had been in poor health, but a few days before her death she was stricken with a stroke and this, aided by her weakened condition caused her death. She loved children. She was not a mother of any but on different occasions took into her home and cared for young children, those of other families.
Mrs. Schlupp was a devout Christian and a member of the Apostolic church. She did much good and hers is a life that will long be remembered by her many friends and she leaves besides them her husband and a brother, G. Ralhenbueler of Garrison, South Dakota, to mourn her departure.
The funeral was held from the Apostolic church east of town Thursday of last week and was largely attended. Interment was made in the cemetery there.

NOTE: Misspellings were in the article. WPA records do not record any Schlupp burials but do show a Rosena Schluff 1845 - 3 Sept. 1917, and a Fred Schluff 1846 - 5 Apr. 1929 in the Dunkard/Apostolic cemetery in Marion township, Clayton county. The age and death date for Rosena matches that of the Mrs. Fred Schlupp of these articles. More research will be needed.
