Elgin Echo, Thur., 1 February 1917. (condensed).
Mrs. Elizabeth Muehlenthaler was born in Oeberonz, Kanton Berue, Switzerland, August 8th, 1836, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Miller, January 25, 1917. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Uebersax. She was married in Switzerland in 1866 to Ulrich Muehlenthaler and they were the parents of 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys, 1 girl dying in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. Rosa Muehlenthaler of Rock Valley, Mrs. Mary Miller of west of town, Fred of St. Paul and Rudolph of Elgin. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and many other relatives.
Mrs. Muehlenthaler with her husband and four children came to America in May of 1883 settling in Elgin, where she resided continuously until 4 years ago, when she moved to her daughters west of town. Her husband died in 1889.
Mrs. Muehlenthaler lived a very useful and worthy life, was a loving and devoted mother and drew about her a circle of warm friends with whom she spent many pleasant hours in her declining years. As long as her health permitted she was an active member of her church, and when her time came to depart she was willing and ready to go and meet her loved ones gone before.
Funeral services were held from the German Baptist church on Sunday and interment was made in the Elgin cemetery.
