Francis K. Robbins was born June 26, 1819, in Goshen, Addison Co., Vermont, and died November 19, 1909, at Elgin, Fayette Co., Iowa. At 15 years old he, with his parents, moved to Medina Co., Ohio, living there 5 years. He then moved to Loudenvill, Richland Co., Ohio, where he lived 8 years. While there he married Christena Peters at the age of 23 years old. In 1851 he moved to Iowa, where he spent 6 months in Jackson Co. before moving to Highland township, Clayton Co., that fall.

Mr. Robbins engaged in farming and as he was always thorough in whatever he did he was successful. He was the father of 11 children, 9 of whom survive, 3 sons and 6 daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Robbins moved to Elgin, Fayette Co., Iowa, in 1904, where they have since resided. Mrs. Robbins passed away last spring.

Mr. Robbins has been sick for some time, but his last days were made as pleasant as possible by the tender care of his children and relatives. He had attained 90 years of age at the time of his death.

Services were held from the home and the Illyria church on Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the cemetery there.
