Elgin Echo, Thur., 2 Dec. 1909.

Mary A. Albright was born near Knoxville, Tenn., April 16, 1817, and passed away at Elgin, Nov. 24, 1909, aged 92 years, 7 months and 7 days. When 3 years of age she moved with her parents to Preeble Co., Ohio. At the age of 16 they again moved and settled near Niles, Berrien Co., Mich.. On April 21, 1836, she was united in marriage to Artema D. Baldwin, to which union were born six children, the two oldest daughters dying in infancy, and three sons, C.A., G.W., J.A., and one daughter, Nancy, now residents of Elgin.

In July 1846, with her husband and family, she moved to Stephenson Co., Ill. In June 1857, they removed to Fayette Co., Iowa, and lived on a farm near Elgin.

May 3, 1874, her husband passed to the great beyond and since then she made her home with her daughter, Nancy.

She was raised in a Christian home, converted and joined the M.E. church, remaining a faithful member, but of late years was unable to attend divine service. For three years she has been a patient sufferer, often expressing a wish to be at rest. She leaves to mourn her death four children, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a sister, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the M.E. church Friday afternoon, Rev. Lilley officiating, and all that was mortal of this good woman was laid to rest in the Elgin cemetery.

Thus another of our old and respected citizens has passed on. Her life's work has been completed, and she leaves behind the monument of a well spent life, and the memory of a kind and noble woman who braved the hardships of early pioneer life to develop our country and when the nation was in danger she sent loved ones to the front to defend the flag and principals she believed to be right. May her rest be peaceful until she is called to that heavenly home awaiting her.
