Elgin Echo, Thur., 8 April 1909.

Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Shadle have been called upon to part with their one month and eighteen day old daughter, Nellie Beulah, whose little lifeless body lay in its mother's arms when the parents awoke Monday morning.

From birth the child had never been strong and it was apparent that the heart action was weak. Sunday evening the little child seemed exceptionally bright. During the night somewhere about 1:00 o'clock the mother cared for her child and then they went to sleep again. In the morning when the father arose at about 5:00 o'clock he was shocked to find the life cord had snapped and that the little daughter was dead.

The grief of both mother and father is intense and the community sympathizes with them in their bereavement.

Services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and the little body was laid to rest in the Elgin cemetery.
