Elgin Echo, Thur., 25 Feb. 1909.

Dr. Clifton A. Patterson died at his home in West Union, Tuesday, February 16, 1909. He was born in Clayton County September 29, 1867, and when a lad of seven years, came to this county with his parents and located on a farm near this city. His early education was received in the Elgin public school. He was a graduate of the U.I.C. and the Hohneman medical college of Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Patterson began his professional career at Sumner where he met with success. He was a hard worker and built up a large practice which necessitated a great deal of exposure to the elements. About two years ago his health gave away and since that time he has done everything that science could suggest and visited different climates in the hope of regaining his heath, but to no permanent avail as he passed away on the above date. May 22, 1894, he was united in marriage with Miss Lena Hoover, of West Union, and she with one daughter and a large number of relatives and friends survive to mourn the loss of their loved one. Funeral services were held in the home at West Union Thursday, last week, and interment was made in the cemetery there.
