Elgin Echo, Thur., 25 March 1909. (Condensed).

Christiana Peters was born in Pennsylvania, Feb. 22, 1824, and passed away Mar. 18, 1909. In 1827 she moved with her parents to Richards county, Ohio, where at the age of 18 she was united in marriage to F. K. Robbins. For 10 years they continued to reside in that state. In 1851 they came to Iowa and settled on a farm in Illyria township, Fayette county, where they resided for over half a century prior to moving to Elgin.

Mr. and Mrs. Robbins were the parents of 11 children, 2 of whom have gone on before. Besides an aged husband, 9 children, Jerome, Maola McCrae, John, Susan Shaffer, Elnora Klingman, all of Elgin; Arvilla Stamp, of Cedar Rapids; Ida Crane, of Elkader; Amy Layton, of West Union; and James, of Volga City, together with 33 grandchildren, 2 sisters, one uncle, David Moats, and numerous friends are left to mourn the death of this good woman.

With the passing of Mrs. Robbins this community loses a woman who was noted for her long married life, as an old settler of Fayette county, as a good and true wife and mother and as a true Christian woman.

Services were held Sunday from the home, thence at Illyria church, where Rev. R. D. McCormick, of Oelwein, who once rode the circuit and held meetings at the Robbins home in the early days, paid a fitting tribute to the life and Christian character of Mrs. Robbins. The remains were laid to rest in the Illyria cemetery, there to await the resurrection morn.
