Elgin Echo, Thursday, 10 May 1906. (Condensed).
Sunday afternoon the life light of C. H. Hunt burned low and flickered out. He went to meet his maker in the quiet of his room at Hotel Dewey. Everything indicated he had been sitting on the edge of the bed and had fallen back and expired.
His brother, Dr. Hunt of Omaha, was telegraphed, and his son Charles of Waukon notified by telephone. The latter arrived here Tuesday afternoon but the body of his father had been interred at the county farm. He did what he could by paying the few bills the father had contracted and also the expenses of interment.
C. H. Hunt was a native of McGregor, where he grew to manhood. Many years ago he came to Elgin and opened dental parlors where he practiced his profession. After leaving here he went to Oelwein, Des Moines, and then to New Mexico, finally making his home in Denver. A longing to see his old homes and friends from years past brought him east to McGregor and then to Elgin. He had spent about three weeks visiting old friends here before expiring on Sunday, May 6th. He was about seventy-seven years old.
