Elgin Echo, Thursday, 08 November 1906.

Mrs. Sarah Weck, the subject of this sketch, was born March 7, 1840, in the county of Kildare, Ireland, and came to America at the age of sixteen years, and more definitely speaking, to Elkader, Clayton county, Iowa, where she lived until she was united in marriage with Charles F. Weck, of Clermont, on September 18, 1858. This has been their home up to the time of her death, which occurred at the Sanitarium at Prairie du Chien on the third day of November, 1906, her age being 66 years, 7 months and 28 days.

There were three children born to their union of which only two are remaining, namely, Mrs. Carrie Feezer, of Lake Park, Iowa, and Frank D., of Slayton, Minnesota. Their daughter Juliette died at the age of ten years. In addition to these she leaves four grandchildren, her bereft husband and two sisters, Mesdames J. P. McDermott, of Osborn, and C. Theo. Schmidt, wife of our mayor, also one brother, Thomas O'Brian, of South Dakota.

She had been in ill health for the past thirty years and although surrounded by every comfort that money could buy and tenderly cared for by her loving family, life was not for her, even frequent journeys to different climates bringing no relief. Her husband accompanied her to Prairie du Chien just a few weeks ago in order that she might have every care that hospital service affords but death came to release the sufferer in the presence of her immediate family who had been called there.

The loved form was brought back to Clermont to the home she loved and funeral services were held there Monday afternoon, being in charge of Rev. Caldwell of the Episcopal church. The flower laden casket was carried directly to the grave from the house, its last resting place. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, the many friends of the family offering their sympathy to the bereaved through the sentiments of the beautiful flowers.

The relatives in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Carrie Feezer and son, Lester, Frank D. Weck, Mrs. J. P. McDermott and Peter Quinn, of Osborn, John O'Brian and sister Rose, of Volga, Mr. and Mrs. C. Theo. Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Schmidt of Elgin.

Sarah O'Brian in her younger days was noted as an exceptionally pretty woman and shared this distinction with her sister, Mrs. Schmidt. Her lovable disposition and many fine traits of character endeared her to all who could claim her friendship. As a trusted and loving wife, a wise mother and kind neighbor she will be missed and deep sympathy is extended to the husband who now sits alone at his own hearth.
