The passing of Mrs. Magdalena Hofer occurred early Thursday morning October 25, 1906. She was born at Bleienbach, Canton Berne, Switzerland, September 30, 1829, and was therefore a little past seventy-seven years of age. The final illness dates back for some time and as she lived alone, her husband having preceded her to the grave some years ago, her care devolved upon her friends, a labor of love they gladly performed. Appropriate services were from the home on main street Saturday afternoon where Mr. Hackman gave a fitting eulogy to the departed. The remains were taken to Elgin cemetery and tenderly laid beside those of her husband.
