Elgin Echo, Thursday, 11 October 1894.

August Brauser was born in Saxony, Germany, May 18th, 1828. He came to America with his parents in 1833 and settled in Crawford Co., Ohio, where he lived until 1849, when he went to California. In 1852 he returned to Ohio where he married Anna Catherine Boyer March 15th, 1852. Came to Fayette Co., Iowa, in 1854 and settled on the farm where he died October 8th, 1894. His wife died in Jan. 1880, the same year he married Miss Lottie Marggraf, of Crawford Co., Ohio. Eleven children were born to him by his first wife, eight of whom survive him. Two children were born to him by his second wife, one whom and the widowed mother survive, the other having died in infancy. For several years he has suffered from a complication of diseases which compelled him to refrain from manual labor. By economy and frugality in his early life he had acquired considerable property, his home farm containing 550 acres. He was a good neighbor and a man who always attended his own business.

The remains were entered in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery to-day, Oct. 11th.
