Elgin Echo, Thursday, 4 October 1894.

KILLED BY A TRAIN.

Oelwein, Iowa, Oct. 2 - While walking across a railroad bridge near Elma Archibald Pooler was instantly killed by a passenger train of the Chicago Great Western. Mr. Pooler was eighty-two years of age but very active for a man of his years. He was slightly deaf, and the wind being in the opposite direction from which the train was coming, made it impossible for him to hear the train until too late to escape.
