Elgin Echo, Thursday, 5 July 1894.

On Monday the little six year old child of Thomas Colliton, living at Clermont, was burned to death. The circumstances were these: The child was playing out doors with matches and by accident set its clothing afire which burned almost entirely off injuring the child so it died in a few hours. Mr. Colliton is foreman of the gravel pit between Elgin and Clermont and the sad circumstances of the death of the child makes it doubly grevious for him and his wife. Let other mothers take warning by this and always remember that too much care and watchfulness cannot be taken of the little ones.
