Eula Lee Larson

Eula Lee Larson, 76, of West Union, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at her daughter’s home in West Union.

Eula Lee, the daughter of George and Lula (Nading) Weyant, was born March 11, 1937 on a farm near Edgewood, Iowa. She attended school in Fayette, Iowa.

Eula was united in marriage with Laverne Thomas Larson on September 15, 1956 at the West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa.

Eula and Laverne owned and operated the Clermont Café, a grocery store in Earlville, Iowa, the Humboldt Hilton in Humboldt, Arizona, and she babysat in her home for many years in Prescott, Arizona. Eula enjoyed cooking, playing the slots and going to the track, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, watching the Phoenix Suns, making tacos, eating Barrel Chicken, reading magazines, listening to country and polka music, and her handheld poker games.

Eula is survived by her husband of 56 years, Laverne, of West Union; 2 daughters, Carla (Everette) Reaves of Sierra Vista, Arizona; and Christy (Wade) Stewart of West Union; 11 grandchildren, Zack Cartier, John Blankenship, Jessica Blankenship, Mariah May, Charity May, Marcus Reaves, Cydney Reaves, Isaac Reaves, Sarah Reaves, Summer Sigmon, and Dylan Stewart; 6 great grandchildren, Storm Sigmon, Raven Sigmon, Davey Sigmon, Atreyu Stewart, Carver Burns, and Jayden Reil; 4 brothers, Whitey (Mary) Weyant of Center Point, Iowa; Don (Shirley) Weyant of Nevada, Iowa; Marlin (Vickie) Weyant of Oelwein, Iowa; and Eugene (Michelle) Weyant of the Quad Cities; and 4 sisters, Luella Pattison of Knoxville, Iowa; Pat Hanson of Oelwein, Iowa; Lois (Mervin) Gregorson of Oelwein, Iowa; and Phyllis Engler of Hazleton, Iowa.

Eula was preceded in death by her son, Craig Larson; a grandson, Greg Larson, and her parents.

Celebration of Life Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 1, at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa.

Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont.
