Memorial Services were held at 1 p.m. May 24, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkader, Iowa for Marcia C. Butikofer, 68, of Elkader, who died Friday, May 17, 2013, at her home following a short illness.
Visitation was held from noon until service time May 24 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Elkader, Iowa.
Interment will be held at a later date.
Marcia C. Butikofer was born May 15, 1945, rural Elgin, Iowa, to Ruben and Anna (Keller) Metzger. She attended Cheery Valley and Elgin Grade School, graduating from Valley High School with the class of 1963.
On October 10, 1964, Marcia was united in marriage to Bill Butikofer at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin, by Rev. Collins. Three children were born to this union.
Marcia farmed with her husband and also worked at Central Community Schools in Food Service for a number of years. She had many interests, but some of her favorites were her pet parakeets, playing cards with friends in a card club, trips with Bill to Florida to visit Wayne, trip to Branson, MO, with her mother and sisters, trip to Omaha, NE, with her sisters, going to the boat in Marquette and shopping with friends. Marcia loved spending time with Jill, Vince and Terry. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of Elkader; three children, Terry Butikofer of Elkader, Wayne Butikofer of Jacksonville, FL, and Jill (Vince) Priebe of Prairie du Chien, WI; brothers, Larry Metzger of Luana, Steven (Donna) Metzger of Garber; sisters Marene (Terry) Palmer of Amana, and Kathy (George) Oldridge of Papillion, NE; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed Curran of Dubuque, Norbert (Janet) Butikofer of Elkader, Melbert (Jean) Butikofer of Farmersburg, Harlan Backhaus of Garnavillo, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruann Curran and a sister-in-law, Zita Backhaus.
