Phillip Richard Steffans

Phillip Richard Steffans, son of Richard and Mary Ann (Teepe) Steffans, was born October 12, 1908 in Fayette County near Castalia, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, October 20, 1992 in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, Iowa. He had reached the age of 84 years.

He attended the Larabee School in Clermont. From 1929 to 1970, Phillip farmed with his brother, William, in the Clermont area. In 1970 they retired and moved to Clermont. Phil loved the outdoors and was an avid squirrel hunter. He was a baseball fan and enjoyed watching the World Series on TV.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: William Henry Steffans, Andrew Phillip Steffans and Frank M. Steffans, and a sister, Marguerite Steffans.

Surviving is a sister, Barbara Lavelle of Postville and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Phillip Steffans were held Saturday, October 24, 1992 in the Clermont Funeral Chapel in Clermont. The Reverend Verdon Swenson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery at Castalia, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Mike Tessmer, Jerry Wander, Albert Matt, John Kelly, John Gass and Arthur Matt.
