Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for John Edward Duwe, Jr., age 63, of Fayette, Iowa will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Cemetery, rural Oelwein, Iowa. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.
John Edward Duwe, Jr., son of John Edward, Sr. and Ruth (Hope) Duwe, was born April 7, 1948 in Postville, Iowa. He graduated from the Fayette High School in 1966 and was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Lois Joy Schnor on August 7, 1976 at the Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa. John worked at the John Deere Tractor Works, Waterloo, Iowa as a fork lift truck operator and also on the assembly line for more than 33 years.
John Edward Duwe, Jr. died Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Sharon Paustian.
John is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, John E. Duwe III of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, LeRoy (Suzanne) Duwe of Jesup, Iowa, and Craig Duwe of Independence, Iowa; a step-son, Richard Dixon of Monticello, Minnesota; six grandchildren and a sister, Charlotte (Jim) Kauffman of Bettendorf, Iowa.
