A prayer and graveside service for Paul T. Lamphier, age 65, of Oelwein, Iowa, and formerly of the Clermont-Elgin area, will be held at 1:00 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following at the home of Paul and Rosemary Lamphier.

Paul Theodore Lamphier, son of Theodore and Marie (Haught) Lamphier, was born January 29, 1946 in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised in the Elkader, Iowa. He married Rosemary Downs and they became the parents of 5 daughters. They lived in Clermont prior to moving to Oelwein, Iowa 14 years ago. Paul retired from John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa in 2006. He was a member of UMA and UAW 838. After retiring he worked for the city of Oelwein until his illness prevented him from working. His pride and joy were his five daughters, his grandchildren, and wife. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his motorcycle, long car rides on the back roads, and spending his winters in Florida.

Paul Theodore Lamphier died Friday, October 28, 2011, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, Wayne Lamphier, Janice (Bruce) Freeman, Jerry (Paula) Lamphier, Larry Lamphier, and a grandson, Jeffrey Paul Ciesielski.

Paul is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosemary; 5 daughters, Anett (Duke) Romer, Tami (Les) Keune, Lori (Pete) Wessels, Juli (Dean) Gotto, Cathy (special friend Tim Benter) Lamphier; 12 grandchildren and 1` great-grandchild; and a brother, Lyman Lamphier.
