Dennis Edward Peterson
Dennis Edward, the son of Clarence and Della (Kronke) Peterson, was born Sept. 16, 1937 in Worthington, Minnesota. He graduated from Wharten College of Business with a B.A. Dennis served in the medical corps of the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1960. He worked as a hospital administrator in Murdo, South Dakota and was a nursing home administrator at the Baxter Care Center in Baxter, Iowa. Dennis opened and served as the administrator for the Elkader Care Center and the McGregor Care Center until his retirement in 1983. Dennis was united in marriage with Janice Loftsgard on Aug. 14, 1976 at the Elgin Lutheran Church.
Dennis' death occurred Friday, Sept. 9, 2011 at his home in Elgin after a short illness. He was seventy-three years old. Dennis was a member of the Elgin Lutheran Church and had been active in the Baxter Lions Club and the Iowa Nursing Home Administration. His family and friends were very important parts of his life.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Janice, of Elgin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joni (Steve) Gisleson of Elgin, Valerie (James) O'Brien of West Union, and Renee (Rodney) Ray of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Chris (Katie) Gisleson, Laura Gisleson (fiance, Collin Looby), Michael O'Brien, and R.J. and Raeann Ray; his mother, Della Henning of Phoenix, Arizona; and one sister, Terri Trumblee of Denmark.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and one sister, Tonya Peterson.
Memorial Services will be held on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin Iowa. The Rev. Jerome Godson will officiate. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday.There will be a private family inurnment held at a later date.
