Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Alma Christianson, age 97, of Clermont, Iowa, were held Monday, April 23 at 1:30 p.m. in West Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa. Rev. Donald Loots officiated. Interment was in God's Acres Cemetery, rural Clermont, Iowa. Arrangements were by Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin, Iowa. Casket bearers were Aines Olson, Truman Paulson, Clarion Hagelie, Alan Gunderson, Douglas Guyer, Henry Christianson.
Alma Teolena, daughter of Thorston and Kjerstie (Ruroden) Thompson, was born June 20, 1892 near Gunder, Iowa in Clayton County. She was raised and educated in the area attending local school. On February 24, 1910 she married Albert Christianson in Clayton County, Iowa. The became the parents of one daughter. The family lived near Elgin, Iowa where they farmed for a number of years. Later they moved to Clermont where they were custodians for the Clermont High School, Larrabee School, and the West Clermont Lutheran Church. Alma was a longtime member of the West Clermont Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid and Legion Auxiliary.
Alma died April 21, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Home in Postville, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Albert in 1972; 8 sisters, Tillie Frautschy, Trina Berg, Caroline Olson, Mollie Mork, Clara Christianson, Julia Houg, Betsy Paulson, and Annie Simpson; and 3 brothers, Albert Thompson, Oscar Thompson, and Henry Thompson.
She is survived by her daughter, Gladys Sander of Postville, Iowa; 2 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
