Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Luva Mae Streittmatter were held on May 13 at Schultz Funeral Home, Monona, Iowa with Pastor Gary Dobbins officiating. Burial was in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Oelwein, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Marlin Hertrampf, Gene Hertrampf, Jim Fuelling, Donnie Sawvell, Gary Hertrampf, and Terry Preuss.
Luva Mae was born January 24, 1907 in Troy Mills, Iowa to Lewis and Ida (Kent) Bergstrom. On March 9, 1931 she married Bryon Thomas Streittmatter in Independence, Iowa. They had 6 daughters. The couple lived near Aurora, Iowa where they farmed and in Coggon, Iowa where they operated an apartment complex. In June of 1977 they moved to Monona, Iowa.
Luva Mae died May 9, 1991 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. She had been a resident at Great River Care Center in McGregor, Iowa since October of 1988. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Byron who died November 25, 1980; a daughter Lois; 9 brothers, Joseph Bergstrom, Shelby Bergstrom, Calvin Bergstrom, Everett Bergstrom, Lyle Bergstrom, Ross Bergstrom, Alex Bergstrom, Eddie Bergstrom, and Gus Bergstrom; and 3 sisters, Fern, Katie, and Mary.
She is survived by 5 daughters: Nileen Hertrampf of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Eileen Sauer of Yuma, Arizona, Ella Mae Starkey of Olympia, Washington, Joan Welch of McGregor, Iowa, and Sharon Preuss of Quimby, Iowa; 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Luella Freyling of Burlington, Iowa.
