Robert Young 1843-1906 Civil War Veteran
The death of Robert Young, formerly
of this vicinity,occurred in Hunter,
N. D., Friday, March 2, and the remains
were brought to this city yesterday,
the funeral occurring this forenoon,
Rev.George Kennedy officiating,
after which they were taken to the
cemetery in Oran township for interment.
He was born in Illinois in 1842,
and was 63 years, 8 months and 27
days of age at the time of his death
which was the result of Bright's disease.
In 1862 he was united in marriage
to Miss Margaret Ramsay, and
came to Iowa locating near Fairbank.
As a result of this union seven children
survive him --- Lincoln, Mary, William
and Arthur Young,and Mrs. Ella
Warren, Mrs. Alta Potts and Mrs.
James Meek. Prior to removing from
this vicinity three years ago he made
his home with his daughter, Mrs.
James Meek, west of the city. He
was a member of the U. B. church, and
had lived a consistent life. In the Civil
War he was a brave soldier for three
years. Mr. Young was well known
by many people in this vicinity, who
