Funeral services for Melvin Gust, age 77, of rural Arlington, Iowa, were held Monday, January 20, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington, Iowa. Pastor Ron Nichols officiated. Floral Hills Chapel Funeral Home of Oelwein, Iowa was in charge of services. Burial was in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Oelwein, Iowa.

Melvin Gust was born the son of Gustav and Clara (Osear) Gust on June 9, 1914 at Van Wert, Iowa. He was married to Vella M. Burlington on November 18, 1938 at Lamont, Iowa. They had four children. He farmed until 1976 when he retired.

Melvin died January 16, 1992 at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa of a heart attack. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Vella; 3 sons, Richard A. Gust of Shreveport, Louisiana, Roger L. Gust of Logansport, Indiana, and Gene R. Gust of Elgin, Iowa, and a daughter, Carol Ann Nus of Arlington, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mary Rammelsburg of Independence, Iowa, Margaret Fry of Harrison, Arkansas, and Mabel Farr of Marion, Iowa.
