A celebration of Life service for Mabel E. Chase, age 90, of Fayette, Iowa will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4 at First United Methodist Church, Fayette, Iowa with the Rev. Jason Princer officiating. Inurnment will be in the Grandview Cemetery, Fayette, Iowa. Honorary urn bearers will be Tom Chase, Chad Chase, Bob Morine, Diane Kusske, Sheryl Weaver, Todd Chase, Curt Chase, Tami Heller, Dawn Ackerson, and Michell Morine. Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Sumner, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel died Friday, February 27, 2009 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, Iowa after a short illness. Her body will be cremated.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alva; a son William Chase, a daughter, Patricia Morine, a great-grandson; a brother, William Greathead and a sister, Blanche Ashby.

Mabel was born March 26, 1918 in rural Fayette, Iowa to William and Beryl (Shepard) Greathead. She attended school in Fayette for 11 years and graduated with her G.E.D. much later. On March 21, 1935, Mabel was united in marriage to Alva Chase in Galena, Illinois. They had 3 children. She was a longtime member of the first United Methodist Church in Fayette, Iowa. She belonged to United Methodist Women, the Home Benefit Club, and donated her time to serve her church and community.

She is survived by a son, Charles (Judy) Chase of Ft. Myers, Florida; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
