Joseph Hanson was born April 11, 1906 in Fayette County, Iowa in the Clermont, Iowa, Eldorado, Iowa area to Matilda and Hans Peter Hanson. He died in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on May 17, 1973. His funeral was held on Saturday May 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kuba Funeral Home. Officiating was Rev. Earl A. Huebner. Burial was in the Campbell Cemetery.

NOTE: His sisters would have been Alma Bachman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. C.L. Antles of Des Moines, Iowa. His brothers were Clarence Hanson of Des Moines, Iowa and preceding him was his brother Gilbert Hanson who had lived in West Union, Iowa.
