Death of Former Resident

Clifford George Hofer, 39, passed away Monday, July 29, at 10:40 p.m. in Winona General Hospital, Winona, Minnesota after an illness of two weeks.

The son of Louise (Pfarrer) Hofer and the late Samuel Hofer, he was born at Elgin on June 27, 1918. Most of his life had been spent in this community where he received his schooling. He spent several months in the service in the army. A resident of Winona about 12 years, Mr. Hofer had been employed at Leicht Press.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Louise Hofer of Chicago; five brothers, Laurence of Postville, Richard of Elgin, Melbert of Luana, William of Groton, Connecticut, and Arthur of Chicago; three sisters, Mrs. Floy L. Jennings of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Dorothy Price of Chicago; and Mrs. Richard DuPont of Mundelein, Illinois; and his fiance, Irene Paskiewez. Surviving also are aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at Fawrett-Abraham Funeral Chapel, Winona, Minnesota, the Rev. A. L. Mennicke of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in charge.

In the afternoon, funeral services were held at 2 o'clock at Muehlethaler Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Dennis Stutrud of Elgin Lutheran Church in charge. interment was made in Apostolic cemetery in a Memorial Service with the American Legion Post of Elgin.
