Hiram Barnes 1839-1924 Civil War Veteran

Death called another of the few old.
Civil war veterans today, when Hiram
Barnes passed away at the home
of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Goldsberry,
who lives in the country southwest
of Oelwein. Mr. Barnes is one
of the old residents of Fayette county,
having been a resident of Maynard for
45 years. His daughter, Mrs. Goldsberry
lived in Oelwein until they moved
to the farm about two years ago.
The deceased would have been 85
years of age had he lived another
month. He had a large number of
friends here and elsewhere in the
county.
