MAYNARD
The pleasure of the Fourth was
badly marred by the terrible accident
that occurred here on Saturday.
While filling a gasoline stove when
it was lighted Mrs. Ellen Snedigar
was so badly burned that she died
24 hours later. Some of the gasoline
was spilled and took fire and in
endeavoring to extinguish the flames
her clothing took fire, everything
was done that was possible, but
death came as a relief from terrible
suffering. It will be remembered
that Mr. Snedigar dropped dead
from heart failure March 16th. He
had been Postmaster here 12 years
and Mrs. Ellen Snedigar received
the appointment of Postmistress
after his death. Two children, Mrs.
H. E. White, of Lawton, Oklahoma,
and Clarence who lived at home are
left to mourn the loss of their parents
within so short a time of each
other.
Mrs. Snedigar was a woman of
many noble qualities and was clearly
beloved by a large circle of friend,
who sadly mourn her untimely
death. The family were closely
identified with this town, having
lived here ever since the town
started. The funeral will be held at
the opera house Wednesday afternoon
at 2 o'clock Rev. Young officiating
and will be in charge of the
Fern Rebekah lodge of which she
was a member. Much sympathy is
felt for the daughter who could not
be here for the funeral. One sister
Mrs. Isaac Bogart, of Oelwein, and
one brother, Lyman Mitchell, of
Smithfield, are 'left to mourn her loss.
