The death of Mrs. Eliza Garlock
Dayton, formerly of Oelwein, occuired
at the home of her son in Postville,
March 2 and the last services were
held from Grace M. E. church of this
city Monday afternoon, Rev. Geo.
Kennedy officiating.
Eliza Garlock was born in Steward,
Schoharie county, N.Y. in 1833. She
was united in marriage to George R.
Dayton, in Sheridan, Ohio, in 1862.
They were residents of Buchanan
county for a number of years, and also
resided in Oelwein for several years
prior to his death which occurred in
Oelwein, April, 1905. Since bis death
Mrs. Dayton has resided with her son
Postville. Mrs. Dayton united
with the Methoidst church when a
child, and had been a faithful member
all through life. Her only sister, Mrs.
Smith, came here from Lincoln. Nebraska,
to be near her in her declining
health. She was a good woman, and
