ARLINGTON NEWS
- Samuel Cammack, for nearly 60 years a resident of
this community, died Thursday, July 10 in the home
of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Humphrey. Though failing
in health for sometime, he was confined to his bed
but a few days. Mr. Cammack came to Iowa from
Wisconsin in the year 1869 and with the exception of
a few years spent at Whittier, California he has made
his home in this community. He is survived by four
children, Charles Cammack, Mrs. Alice Humphrey, Mrs.
Katherine Humphrey and Lester Cammack, all of near
Arlington. Mrs. Cammack and their oldest child, Mrs.
Carrie Hammes Newton, preceded him in death in 1922.
Funeral services were in charge of Rev. W. P. Sandrock
of the Lutheran church. Mr. Cammack was nearly 91
years of age and was one of the seven remaining Civil
War veterans of this vicinity. The G. A. R. and Legion men
D. A. Newton, L. L. Welch, L. E. Bachtell, C. H. Gitchell,
F. Seedorff and D. I. Meyer assisted as pallbearers.
Interment was made in Taylorsville Cemetery.
