Deceased was born in Dewiston(*see note below), Niagara county, N.Y. In 1865, she came with her husband, Samuel Boice to Bremer county where they lived till eighteen months preceding her demise when they moved to Fayette, where after a severe and painful illness of 5 months, on the 16th of July, 1880, she quietly and peacefully dropped into the sleep from whence there is no waking; aded 38 years and 2 months. Mary was ever ready to lend a charitably and helping hand to the distressed and afflicted. She exercised a Christian faith and character in all her daily walks of life and had gained a circle of warm and loving friends. She leaves a husband and six children and parents to mourn the loss of a devoted wife, a kind and affectionate mother, and obedient wife.

*Dewiston-I believe this is a typo, as there is no 'Dewiston', NY. It should probably read 'Lewiston.'
