Charles Waechter 1844-1918

Charles Waechter was born the 24th day of August
1844 in Hanover, Germany and came to America with
his parents at the age of two years and settled in
Dubuque county where he has always made his home
till about two months ago when he and his family
moved to Oelwein. About two weeks ago he was
stricken with a paralytic stroke from which he never
recovered and on Wednesday morning, November 27
he passed peacefully away at the age of 74 years, 3
months and 3 days.
- At the age of twenty-four, on June 10, 1869 he was
married to Johanna Binder whom with nine children,
survive him. They are as follows: Theodore, Louie.
Lucy, now Mrs. Lobeck, Sefzick, Dora, Mrs. John Brady
all of Epworth, Josephine, Mrs. Lou Bradfield of Oelwein,
Minnie, Mrs. John of Luck, Wisconsin, William of Waterloo
and Henry at home.
- Last services were conducted from the Waechter home
Saturday morning, Rev. E. L. Braulick officiating.
