Thomas Wilbur Davis

Thomas Wilbur Davis, 85, Clermont, Iowa, died March 15, 2011, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa, after a short illness. Thomas was born on November 21, 1925, the son of Martin Sr. and Ena (Wilbur) Davis in Clayton County near Elkader, Iowa. He graduated from West Union High School in 1943.

Thomas farmed several years with his parents and then worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 22 years. He also drove semi cross country for 3 years and had a private flying license. He was a volunteer fireman at Clermont and was fire chief and assistant fire chief for a number of years. He enjoyed pheasant and deer hunting and also yearly trips to Canada fishing. He also had vacationed in Alaska and the Bahamas. He was a member of the Masons for many years.

Survivors include one niece, Beverly McNally, Postville; two nephews, Ron Meisner (Judy) Spring Valley, MN, Marty (Deb) Thomas, Oelwein and one brother-in-law, Marvin (Nancy) Thomas, Oelwein.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Evelyn in infancy, Zebbie Thomas and Mary Meisner; one brother, Martin Jr; one nephew, Bradley Meisner; one niece, Dawn Voshell; one brother-in-law, Francis Meisner and one sister in-law, Dorothy Davis.

Masonic Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa. The Pastor Ron Meisner will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Wadena Cemetery in Wadena, Iowa.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa, and one hour before services at the Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Clermont, Iowa, on Friday, March 25, 2011.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
