Wyman Luther’s
Sudden Passing

His Employer, Jack Irvine, Found
the Aged Man Dead
Near the Farm Residence

Wyman Luther, age 69, was found
dead yesterday shortly after noon on
the Jack Irvine place southwest of
the city when Mr. Irvine went out
to call him to dinner.
Mr. Luther had been apparently in
his usual health and had gone out a
short distance from the house to feed
the cows when he was stricken with
death. He had seemingly been well
when he left the house.
Evidently death came swiftly when
he was alone and he had fallen to the
ground where Mr. Irvine had found
him. Dr. Patterson was summoned
at once but it was evident that he was
beyond medical aid. It was pronounced
a case of apoplexy. The body was taken
to the Hintz undertaking parlors
and prepared for burial. Arrangements
for the funeral have not been made.

Mr. Luther had passed nearly all
of his life in the vicinity of Oelwein. For
the past seventeen years he had been
employed by Mr. Irvine and he was
highly regarded by the Irvine family.
There are two sons and two daughters
to mourn his passing--Mrs. Julius
Shadle and Hugh Luther, of this city,
Mrs. Joseph Hunter of Arlington and
Guy Luther in North Dakota.
