The funeral service of Mr. William J. Noble, 1900
South Frederick of our city, was held from the Grace
Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. J. B. Ackman
officiating at the services. His burial was the old
Oelwein cemetery.
_William J. Noble was born in Lawrence County,
Pennsylvania, November 10, 1862 and passed away
at the University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa, November
5, 1932.
_When he was four years of age, his parents moved
from Pennsylvania to Illinois. On March 25, 1891 he
was united in marriage to Miss Izora Higley. They
started their home building efforts in the community
where Mr. Noble had grown to manhood. In 1902 the
Noble family came to Iowa, locating in the Oelwein
community, where Mr. and Mrs. Noble have had their
home up to the time of Mr. Noble's death. For a
number of years Mr. Noble worked in the C. W. W.
shops. And for many years he was the faithful stand-
by in the Kuhn's Blacksmith Shop on East Charles
Street.
_Early in life he became a member of the Methodist
Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the
order of the Modern Woodmen of America.
_He is being survived by his wife, Mrs. Noble and two
children. Mr. Earl Noble of Des Moines and Mrs.
Reuben Underwood of Waterloo. Two of his daughters
preceded him in death. He is also survived by his
grandchild, Phylis Underwood of Waterloo and two
brothers, Joe Noble of Calipatria, Calif. and Henry Noble
of Danville, Ill., as well as five sisters; Mrs. John Bucher
of Mt. Carroll, Ill., Mrs. Alice Bucher of Orangeville, Ill.,
Mrs. August Gerke and Mrs. John Gerke of Pearl City,
Ill. and Miss Minnie Noble of Mt. Carroll, Ill. as well as
many other relatives and many friends.
