April 26, 1918, at his late residence
in Oelwein Jesse Seth Chase passed
to the land that is not afar. He came
into life in Smithfield township, Fayette
county, Iowa, July 5, 1878, and
had lived in this vicinity for thirtynine
years and nine months.. He had
suffered from tuberculosis and made
a brave fight for life but in vain.
He was ..united in marriage with
Clara Elizabeth Miller September 20,
1903. There were born to this union
six children. One died in infancy, leaving
the mother to bring up the five
little ones. May God deal gently with
her in the task. His aged father, one
brother and: a sister are among the
mourners.
The last service was from Grace M.
E. church in Oelwein Sunday, April 28,
and the body was taken to Maynard
for interment. Tho lodge of-Odd Fellows
was present and their burial service
was given. Dr. Shaffer was assisted
by Capt. Weisor oŁ the Salvation
Army, who offered prayer at the residence
