Word has been received here of
the death of Mrs. A. J. Bowie of
Central City, Neb., which occurred
at her home there at 8:00 A. M.
July 4th. after an illness of several
weeks due to heart trouble.
Mrs. Bowie was well known in
Oelwein as the wife of the late
Dr. Samuel Conybeare ~who was
the pastor of the Presbyterian
church here for a number of years.
He accepted the pastorate at Cedar
Rapids after leaving here and
from there went to Central City,
Neb., In Oct. 1915 and preached
there until his death Jan. 4, 1917,
In April, 1918, Mrs, Conybeare was
married to Arthur J. Bowie of Central
City and they have since maintained
their home at that place.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Bowie
is survived by three children, Samuel
S. Conybeare, of Lancaster, Pa.
Ralph C. Conybeare, of Cedar
Rapids, la,, and Lillian Conybeare
who Is a teacher at Grand
Island, Neb., but lives at home during
the summer. Funeral services
were held Friday at the home In
