Charles William Lenius was born October 8, 1837
in Germany where he received his school education
and learned the trade of a miller. In 1866 he was
married to Mrs. Louise Lenz who maiden name was
Rosengarter. Two years later he came to this
country and bought the mill south of Oelwein./ After
operating it for about a year he sold out and purchased
the farm on which he resided for the past forty years.
Mr. Lenius had been in poor health for years. About
two years ago his wife and faithful companion died,
and ever since he was waiting for the hour that would
bring rest to his weary body and peace to his soul.
Shortly before his death his condition grew worse and
on Thursday, June 24th, he fell asleep in Jesus his
savior and redeemer.
He leaves to mourn his loss three sons, Karl, Theodore,
and Fred Lenius and four step children, Mrs. Wegner,
Ernest, Herman and Albert Lenz, and four brothers.
His age was seventy one years, eight months and
sixteen days. The last services occurred the 28th ult.
conducted by Rev. Fredk. Zimmerman. There was a
large attendance, thirty carriages following the
