HAZLETON ~ Isaac Truax was born near Eaton, Ohio, January 1_,
1817 and passed away Tuesday, September 7, 1909.
He remained in the place of his birth until about the
time he reached majority, when he came west, first
to Marion, Grant county, Indiana and later September
12, 1864 to Iowa, locating on the farm one-half mile
east of Coytown in Hazleton township. His marriage
to Miss Anna Hillman occurred August 13, 1948 and
since her death on January 11, 1894 he has made his
home with his son William. Five sons were born to
this union, Eli, deceased Dec. 14, 1880; William E. of
Hazleton; Edgar R. of Des Moines; John B. of
Independence and Isaac Daniel of Hazleton. Up to
about a year ago Grandpa Truax had enjoyed almost
perfect health.
His pastor, Rev. Elwick conducted the last services
from the Methodist Episcopal church Thursday after-
noon, after which he was laid to rest by the side of his
wife in the Hazleton cemetery.
