HAZLETON - Funeral services for D. J. (Djura) Stefanovic will be
11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, with the
Rev. Alan Wolkenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Fontana Cemetery
Hazleton.
Friends may call from 2 unti19 p.m. Wednesday
at the Hintz-Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein.
Mr. Stefanovic, 80, died at his home Monday
morning, Sept. 29, 1997, after a sudden illness.
He was born April 26,1917, in Kormont, Yugoslavia,
the son of Luka and Leposava Stefanovic.
He married Karoline Rink on June 11, 1948, in
Gnadenburg, Germany. Mr. Stefanovic worked for
Clay Equipment in Waterloo and farmed northwest
of Hazleton. He was also a well-known area blacksmith.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church,
Moose Lodge and the Hazleton Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Karoline; seven daughters, Ingeborg
(Leonard) Brezina of Middle Amana, Krsmanija (Gene) Craig of Mason
City, Angelina Stefanovic of Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Dobrina
(Jim) Folsom, Peladija (John) Woodson, and Monika (Robert) Roepke
all of Oelwein, and Sonija (Richard) Stefanovic-Wessels of Hazleton;
20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Jenadija,
Krsmanija, Angelina, Dobrina and Peladija, all of Yugoslavia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kosta and a
grandson, Les Folsom.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
